While photographing the getting ready time of a wedding down in Utah for one of our sweet couples the bride’s sister whispered for us to come over. She asked about doing something special for her sister, the bride.
Sarah and I love to help curate special moments for our couples. One of those ways is during the getting ready time to get the bridesmaids and bride (and groomsmen with the groom) together for a toast/roast. The bridesmaids can choose to tell a sweet story about or roast the bride. It always makes for a good time! It kicks off the day with some good, fun vibes and a lot of times a good amount of sentimentality (maybe some tears too). We love capturing this portion for special moments in the wedding film too!
The other weekend our cute bride’s sister asked about doing something a little bit different. As she (the bride) wasn’t wanting anything too sentimental. Her idea was genius! The bridesmaids are all huge Swifties and they had a history of scream singing “Love Story” by Taylor Swift. After the bridal shots with the bride we brought her downstairs and they started the song, it was an absolute hit! They all sang and danced and screamed!
We’ll recommend this to all of our couples from here on out! The energy was palpable and the rest of the getting ready portion was sooo much fun, it was an instant connector moment for all of the bridesmaids!
Whatever your “thing” is, do it. Kick the best day of your life off right with your favorite girls with a toast/roast, or scream singing Taylor, or something else that will bring your tribe together in a fun way! Once that was finished the girls all got into their dresses and the rest of the day was an absolute hit!
