Oftentimes when we talk to our brides and grooms before their wedding, we ask them what moments of their special day they are most looking forward to? Besides the obvious moments like the ceremony and seeing loved ones, the most common answer is busting a move during their DANCE PARTY! Every bride and groom look forward to the moment when they can have a good time with their favorite people and ugly scream their favorite songs at the top of their lungs while simultaneously jumping around like crazy people!
I want you to close your eyes and imagine something. It’s your wedding day. You just married the love of your life. Dinner has already been served, everyone has drinks in hand, your best friend is grabbing your arm and laughing at who knows what.. your favorite early 2000’s song starts playing- you can feel the bass buzzing through your body… what are you feeling?! You want to go out and dance right?! We want to help you curate your ULTIMATE WEDDING DANCE PARTY! Years from now, we want you to be able to remember how much fun that night was and how every time you hear a song by the Black Eyed Peas you’ll always envision your brother doing the worm across the dance floor at your wedding. Are you ready for this?! Let’s do it!
5 Tips To Have A Heck Of A Night
✔︎ HIRE A DJ!
Just because you know someone with a speaker doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to forego hiring a DJ! Their equipment and gathering skills can make or break a good jam sesh!
✔︎ Say NO to line dances!!!
I can tell a good DJ apart from a bad one right away based on the amount of line dances they play. 1 line/group dance song is fine… 2 is okay, BUT ABSOLUTELY NO MORE THAN 3. I feel passionate about this! The first minute of a line dance is fun, but after that you KNOW everyone is bored, out of breath and miserable!
✔︎ Don’t play anything older than 2000
Maybe 1 or 2 older songs can slip in, but for the most part, the people who will ACTUALLY be dancing at your wedding probably grew up during the mid 2000’s-2010’s. PLAY THAT TYPE OF MUSIC! Everyone will know the words and sing along and know how to dance to songs they grew up listening to!
✔︎ No country music
I know someone out there just “booed” me from behind the screen, BUT hear me out! In the 100’s of weddings I’ve been to, I see this happen over and over again. Once a country song starts, no one nows how to dance to it. All the work you put into getting people out to the dance floor just went to waste because people will sit down if they don’t know how to dance to the song!
✔︎ Your bridal party needs to make the dance party happen
Let your bridal party know that they are responsible to get the party started! No one wants to be the first one on the dance floor, but if you tell your best friends to take one for the team for you on your wedding day, they’ll listen and people will follow their lead!
