Jan 5, 2018 –
We as a couple try to be goal oriented. After we first got married we did pretty good with setting goals and working towards those goals. At the beginning of every month we would have a goal setting session with this outline:
NOVEMBER GOALS
Created on October 30th. Meet by November 30
SMART
Specific – Measurable – Attainable – Relevant – Timely
- Physical:
- Business:
- Emotional:
- Spiritual:
- Financial:
- School:
- Family:
We would print this out and hang it up on the mirror and the fridge, guaranteeing we would see it multiple times a day. All is good right? Wrong. We began getting lazy with our goal setting and follow up. We’ve currently got October’s goals hanging up everywhere. Our downfall was trying to do too much every month. Having a lot of goals is amazing and I’m a huge believer in setting high goals: “Most people fail in life not because they aim too high and miss, but because they aim too low and hit.”
Our problem was having multiple high goals for every different part of our life. Rather than focusing on one or two goals we would do a little bit here and there on each goal, but never really putting emphasis towards any one of them. This caused us to get stressed out BECAUSE of our goals. That was the OPPOSITE of what we were going for!
What Sarah and I did this time around was set fewer, but very specific goals. We still used a similar outline trying to get something for each of the categories listed above.
In order for us to achieve our goals we want YOUR help. We know that one of the main reasons people fail at achieving their goals is due to having no accountability. We NEED your help to give us that accountability. We’re going to list our goals for the new year here. If you see us slacking PLEASE CALL US OUT! We want to be accountable so we can achieve our goals.
